Main Source was an innovative, acclaimed Toronto and New York-based hip hop group comprising Toronto natives Sir Scratch, K-Cut, and Queens natives Large Professor and Mikey D.
Their first album, Breaking Atoms, featured conscious MC tracks such as "Looking at the Front Door" and "A Friendly Game of Baseball" and "Watch Roger Do His Thing" as well as the first on-record appearance of Nas on "Live at the Barbeque", which also featured Joe Fatal and Akinyele. Because of business differences, the group broke up before their second album, tentatively entitled The Science could be released. However, Sir Scratch and K-Cut released a second album under the Main Source name, entitled Fuck What You Think, with new recruit Mikey D on vocals; however, the album was shelved due to inner conlficts between the record label and group management. Singer Madonna sampled the bassline from "What You Need", on Fuck What You Think, in the song "Human Nature" for her 1994 album, Bedtime Stories.

I just came back from a Jay-Z and T.I. concert so I guess Ill do a little history on these dudes. Jay-Z grew up in Marcy Houses in Brooklyn as you probably already know. His father abandoned the family when Jay was just a shorty. He had his fair share of trouble when he was young as we all did, but his led to him shooting his brother in the arm for stealing his clothes when he was just 12 years old. Jay attended Eli Whitney High School along with the rapper AZ (I guess that school had a thing for letter names). Eli Whitney eventually closed down and he started school at George Westinghouse Information Tech High School where he became classmates with Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes. Hov never graduated, he had other things on his mind. They used to call Sean Carter "Jazzy" in his neighborhood when he was growing up. Thats what spawned the name Jay-Z.

Ice Cube was born in South Central Los Angeles, California as O'shea Jackson. He started to become interested in hip hop around the age of 16.Thats when he would write rhymes in his high school keyboarding class. In 1987 cube studied Architectural Drafting at the Phoenix Institute of Technology with his friend Sir Jinx. During his stint in drafting school Cube and Jinx formed a rap group called the C.I.A. and performed at parties hosted by Dr. Dre. in 1987 Cube dropped "My Posse" under an alias of "CIA and the county police. A short time after "My Posse" dropped, Cube showed the lyrics to "Boyz-N-The-Hood" to Eazy-E. Eazy rejected the song at first because he was not yet a rapper. F.Y.I. (Kausing Much Damage) or KMD was a group of the 90's that didn't have a huge list of hits ,but the ones that they did have are now hip hop classics. KMD consisted of Zev Love X, his younger brother DJ Subroc and Rodan. Rodan eventually left the group to finish high school and was replaced by The Rapper Onyx. Zev Love and DJ Subroc later began production of the album Black Bastards which was shelved because the cover art was to controversial. During the production of Black Bastards Subroc was tragically killed when he was struck by a car. After the death of his younger brother the man we know as Zev Love disappeared from the hip hop scene.

Oh yeah! Zev Love X currently goes by the name of MF DOOM.

Im about to lace you with the realist rating system of all times. The rating system I have created is called "Play or Skip". This system is based off of my initial reactions to the tracks that I am reviewing. After I go through my listening I tally up all my Plays and Skips and come up with a percentage. Once I get my percentage I give the artist a letter grade. The numbers dont lie! The grading scale is as follows.

Yeah so I was outside AT&T at 4:30 this morning waiting on this new Apple IPhone 3G like a straight hype. The store had 20 phones and I was #15 in line (lucky there was a 1 phone per person limit). I gotta say im pleased with my purchase, the phone is ill. The touch screen keyboard is gonna take a little getting used to but thats nothing.
